Dr. Susan Kasser is a Professor of Exercise Science in the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science at the University of Vermont. She earned her PhD in Human Performance at Oregon State University with an emphasis on balance and gait. Since arriving at the University of Vermont in 1997, Dr. Kasser has focused her scholarly work on balance and fall prevention in adults with MS. Her research examines the impact of attention and cognition on walking and evaluates the effects of functional exercises on mobility and fall risk. Dr. Kasser is well-known in the field having published numerous articles in well-respected MS and rehabilitation journals.
She has given numerous presentations on her work, both nationally and internationally, and is regularly an invited speaker at MS education conferences and workshops.
Dr. Kasser has also had extensive clinical experience. Over the past 25 years, she has served as Director of IDEAL - Individually Designed Exercise for Active Lifestyles, a twice-weekly program offering tailored balance and mobility training for adults with MS. From its inception, IDEAL has provided on-going programming to hundreds of participants from the greater Burlington area.
